"Thus, for McLuhan, any technology represents some kind of expansion, augmentation, or transformation of the human subject, not just contemporary tools or techniques attributed with this capacity. Moreover, all the tools used by a tool using subject affect the entire ‘psychic and social complex’ of the tool user."
